| Airworthiness Directives; Fokker Model F.28 Mark 0070 and 0100 ...
SUMMARY: The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Fokker Model F.28 Mark 0070 and 0100 airplanes. This AD requires a one- time inspection of the fuel lines located in the left and right main landing gear (MLG) bays to determine the clearance between the fuel and hydraulic lines. If necessary, this AD also requires an inspection of fuel lines for chafing, the replacement of a chafed fuel line with a new fuel line, and the repositioning of existing clamps and installation of additional clamps between the fuel and hydraulic lines. This AD results from a fuel leak found in the left MLG bay. We are issuing this AD to detect and correct inadequate clearance between fuel and hydraulic lines in the MLG bay, which could lead to chafing of a fuel line and fuel leakage. A fuel leak near hot brakes could result in a fire in the MLG bay.
The Amazing Flying Dutch Car
If you hate being stuck in traffic jams, don't worry, because the new flying car PAL-V is on it way. This Dutch project is a hybrid 3-wheel vehicle that can fly as a gyrocopter and also be driven as a regular car, or to be more precise, like a motorcycle. When riding on the road, the PAL-V will use the patented technology Dynamic Vehicle Control (DVC™), originally designed for the Carver One, that should make tilting in corners a piece of cake. The flying apparatus is based on the original idea for the “autogiro", developed in 1923 by Juan de la Cierva, and will have the capability to land practically anywhere. Combining the best of both worlds, the PAL-V ONE will use a foldable rotor fixed on the roof, a foldable propeller, and a slidable tail. The motor used for driving is the same that will power the propeller.
County gives $500000 to SCLA
VICTORVILLE - Commercial airliners fly in to Victorville from all over the world to get maintenance overhauls, and ever since new hangars were completed, business has been swarming around the facility. The skill companies need most is an airframe and powerplant certification from the Federal Aviation Administration, which starting in the fall will be taught at SCLA. Under the Victor Valley Education Consortium, high school graduates, veterans and other candidates will be able to enroll in the two-year program starting in January. Thanks to $500,000 approved by the San Bernardino County supervisors Tuesday, the fledgling school can buy equipment. "This $500,000 that we're getting is phenomenal," said John Hardell, plant manager for the General Electric Flight Test Operation based in Victorville, who started out as an A&P mechanic.
