Millville Aviation Art on display at the Noyes Museum of Art

The Millville Army Air Field Museum (MAAFM) exhibition of aviation art entitled "Aviation Art -- The Beauty of Flight" will be displayed at the Noyes Museum of Art in Oceanville from March 20 through May 1, in their educational wing.

The theme of this display is "Thundering Warbirds," a collection of prints and lithographs illustrating the history, technology and beauty of the warbirds of World War II. All of the pieces are signed originals with many bearing signatures of WWII "Aces" who served and flew these fighters, bombers and pursuit planes during the war. The exhibit includes pieces on loan from private individuals as well as a selection from the permanent collection of the Millville Army Air Field Museum.

The Noyes Museum of Art, located at 733 Lily Lake Road in Oceanville, has a permanent collection that currently includes more that 1,300 pieces of American art, ranging from paintings and sculptures from the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as an impressive variety of more than 350 vintage waterfowl decoys.

Massive marvel of aviation

Bruce Propst of Elk Grove Village has worked in aviation for about 40 years but had never seen anything like it.

He was awe-struck as the sun glimmered off the blue tail and the massive Rolls Royce engines of the Airbus A380 the worlds largest passenger jet. This behemoth had just made a delicate landing and dwarfed the 747s that taxied to make way for the newcomer off of Runway 4 Right at Chicagos OHare International Airport Tuesday afternoon.

Now thats a tremendous looking aircraft, said Propst, an aircraft technician for Flight Check aircraft maintenance company. Thats history.

Propst was part of the ground support crew, along with hundreds of his colleagues, who encircled the aircraft with their vehicles to check out the new jet on the block. To check out their future.
