Millville Aviation Art on display at the Noyes Museum of Art

The Millville Army Air Field Museum (MAAFM) exhibition of aviation art entitled "Aviation Art -- The Beauty of Flight" will be displayed at the Noyes Museum of Art in Oceanville from March 20 through May 1, in their educational wing.

The theme of this display is "Thundering Warbirds," a collection of prints and lithographs illustrating the history, technology and beauty of the warbirds of World War II. All of the pieces are signed originals with many bearing signatures of WWII "Aces" who served and flew these fighters, bombers and pursuit planes during the war. The exhibit includes pieces on loan from private individuals as well as a selection from the permanent collection of the Millville Army Air Field Museum.

The Noyes Museum of Art, located at 733 Lily Lake Road in Oceanville, has a permanent collection that currently includes more that 1,300 pieces of American art, ranging from paintings and sculptures from the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as an impressive variety of more than 350 vintage waterfowl decoys.

Boeing hauls in $4 bil. in jet orders

Boeing Co. won orders for passenger and cargo jets, including 17 of its 787 Dreamliners, in three separate transactions valued at a total of about $4.6 billion.

The Chicago-based planemaker received a $2.26 billion order from Kuwait-based Aviation Lease & Finance Co. for 18 jets including 12 Dreamliners. Aviation Lease is the first Middle East customer to order the Dreamliner, Boeing said Monday.

Boeing also signed a contract to deliver as many as 10 of its 747s to Volga-Dnepr, a Russian cargo carrier, while Continental Airlines Inc. ordered five more 787-9 jets. Six of the 787s were already booked from an unidentified customer on Boeing's Web site in September. The lessor also ordered six 737-800s.

In other news, the company's head of commercial airplane marketing, Randy Baseler, announced plans to retire next month after 33 years with the aerospace giant.
